Teachers Preventing Bullying

This is a very informative book about preventing school bullying. "This resource offers tried-and-tested strategies based on the author's school-based research and regular work in schools training staff who deal with incidents of bullying". It is important that teachers and other professionals working with students know exactly what to do to prevent school bullying. School bullying can have a tragic end for some students if left untreated. It is the job of the teachers (the adult figures) in a school to recognize and prevent these tragedies from happening.

Is Your Friend Bullying You

A this site a teen is able to see the 5 different signs that their high school friend is bullying them. Sometimes it is not always obvious to students that they are experiencing bullying from another student. The five steps include:

1. Your Friend Doesn't Stop When You Say "Stop"

2. Your Friend Gossips About You

3. Your Friend Doesn't Stick Up for You

4. Your Friend Could Take or Leave You

5. Your Friend Forces You to Do Things You Don't Want to Do

"Bullies aren't only the kinds of people who beat you up for your lunch money. In fact, you might be getting bullied without even realizing it, by someone who's supposed to be on your side."

"If one or more of these are true, one of your friends might be doing you more harm than good."

High School Speaker

This is the website for the motivational speaker Jim Jordan, who travels to different schools and talks about high school bullying. This is just one of the many different ways that a school could inform the students about bullying. I remember being in high school and I loved it when we got the chance to go for an assebly, no one even cared what it was about because we got out of class. But that did not mean we didnt listen, because we did. Speakers are a great way to inform students because they can make a topic relate to us and present on a level that as teens we understand.

Bully

This is a novel based on the true story of a killing in Florda. The main person "Bobby" teased and bullied a few of the different kids in his high school. These kids made a pact to kill him because of what he did/was doing to them. This is an interesting tale about bullying in schools. There is actaully a movie out too. I believe that this is a good book for future teachers to read or even students because we learn from history. When someone does something tragic in history we learn from the mistake and learn how we can prevent such events from happening again.

Fiction Books
